Located in the heart of the city and the university campus, the renovated Musée Zoologique de Strasbourg offers the opportunity to re-examine the relationship between humans and animal species in the face of irreversible and current developments in living conditions, health, biodiversity and climate.
How do ecosystems function? How can they be grasped with a scientific and naturalistic view? What are the links between biodiversity and human societies? How do scientists understand the interactions between humans and the environment and their effects on a local and global scale?
The museum aims to shed light on these questions by : Arousing the visitor's curiosity about environmental issues and the scientific questions involved. Promoting an understanding of the scientific, but also political, ethical, economic and social challenges involved. Encourage the participation and involvement of each individual in the future choices of society.
The museum draws on its exceptional collection, one of the oldest and most important in Europe, and its historically close links with the University of Strasbourg and research stakeholders. Feeling the spirit of the historic site and experiencing new, immersive spaces and spaces for knowledge exchange are the promises of the completely redesigned visitor circuit.
These benefits will enable the Musée Zoologique to position itself as a unique place of mediation, knowledge flow and debate.
